Germany: CGT Tour of Gardens 2011
Nordrhine-Westphalia is the old industrial heartland of Germany
not far from the Dutch border. There are the formal French style gardens at Schloss Benrath and Schloss Augustusburg; regenerated
industrial parklands at Duisburg-Nord Landschaftpark; modern urban parks by
Israeli sculptor Dani Karavan and the Centre for Garden Art and Culture at
Schloss Dyck. Nearby is the Langan Foundation, a minimalist
garden and amazing museum, and Insel Hombroich which mixes garden, nature reserve
and art in an impressive setting. And as always - excellent, food, wine and camaraderie.
