Tuesday 28th MayA visit to Bankhead, Tuesday 28th May 2pm-4pm
Bankhead, Old Coach Road, Barnhill, Chester, CH3 9JLThis is an opportunity to visit a garden new to us. It has only just started to open through the National Garden Scheme. It is a well- established garden, wrapped around a Victorian house, built in 1864. You enter along a long drive, with well-established rhododendrons leading up to the house. The house was originally a farm and then the dower house for Bolesworth. It is set in two acres of terraced gardens, much of it original with terraced walls and saddle stones, set above a large Japanese style pond with an island in the middle with rhododendrons and azaleas. Above the terraces there are paved areas and lawn, again bordered with rhododendrons and other flowering shrubs. It should look stunning in May. The lawn will have seating for teas/coffees/cake.In addition there is a greenhouse, vegetable area, a beautiful rose garden and herbaceous borders. N.B Maximum numbers will be 25, possibly 30 if we let them know well in advance, so book early Cost £10 per person, including tea, coffee and home made cake Event Contact: Julia Whitfield, Tel. 01925 650237 email ewhitfield2008@btinternet.com
